It depends on more than the topcoat
Silicone render is the visible finish, but its performance depends on the complete system underneath it. We apply it over a mesh-reinforced base coat. Preparation, reinforcement, beads, junctions and the condition of the wall all matter.
Two homes finished with the same product can still weather differently because of their location, exposure and the condition of the building.
What can affect it over time?
- The condition and movement of the existing walls
- How the background was prepared
- The render system and materials used
- Details around windows, doors, rooflines and other junctions
- Exposure to weather and surrounding conditions
- Leaks, overflowing gutters or other water problems
- How the finished surface is cleaned and maintained
Will the appearance stay exactly the same?
No exterior finish stays completely unchanged. Dirt, weathering and local conditions can gradually affect the appearance, particularly on exposed elevations or areas close to trees and vegetation.
If something changes at the property later, such as a leak, damaged seal or movement in the building, dealing with it early can help prevent a small problem becoming a larger one.
What about manufacturer guarantees?
Any warranty or guarantee depends on the particular system, specification and terms that apply to the job. It should not be treated as a promise that every rendered wall will look unchanged for a fixed number of years.
